It is said that the Qabalah was given to Adam by the Archangel Metatron to regain his fallen grace. For thousands of years this mystery religion has been held secretly and transmitted mouth to ear. We can see the threads of this Arcana woven through all religions and sacred teachings though its source remains shrouded. Core to this revelation is the idea that humanity is a vessel for Divine Light and we are spiritually realized to the extent which we can contain this Divine Light within us. These vessels, our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual bodies, are relatively strong or weak depending on the quality of our behaviors relative to those aspects of self. One of the goals of the Qabalistic revelation is to repair and strengthen these vessels so that the full expression of Divine Light may manifest in "Adam" (whose name means generic humanity). These reparations or Tikum are a great part of the transformational action of the Qabalah.

To address such disparate parts of self a system must be comprehensive and the Qabalah is appropriately so. Repairing the mental vehicle is addressed by changes in thinking; thus, philosophic study is encouraged. Repairing the emotional vehicle is linked in part to this mental change. Much of our emotional improvement comes from our ability to choose how we interpret our experiences. Accurate, courageous, and profound interpretations, based on clear philosophic thinking, lead to emotional healing. This vehicle is also improved through skill in proper visualization. The physical vehicle, our mundane body, is affected by all our inner improvements because it is viewed as the outcome of the convergence of all our inner forces. In traditional Qabalah, it is said that the Tree of Life has its roots in heaven and its fruits are the physical Universe itself.

To facilitate improvements on all levels various mystical practices are also employed. The Qabalists view the universe as vibratory in nature. Techniques are used to alter one’s personal vibratory frequency, which harmonizes us with higher and more spiritual energy. One powerful method is the chanting of sacred Hebrew mantras, or divines names. This attunes our vessels enabling higher forces to flow into our body, mind, emotions, and spirit. As this occurs a rapid acceleration of growth begins.

Similar ideas and techniques can be found in many traditions and in many lands, though the Qabalistic path is particularly useful for those of us born into the western karma. The Qabalah is not a transcendental path where an aspirant is taught to rise above earthly interactions and concerns. The Qabalistic path insists upon bringing spiritual insight and energy to bear upon our everyday world. It leads to a change in our material environment where the divine image might be made manifest in this earthly life. This is our "great work."
